During July 2014, a group of Mexican artists and graphic designers will visit Sacramento to have an exhibition, an artist talk, and a workshop at Sol Collective.
The group of creators, work together as Sublevarte Colectivo, and their exhibition will focus on their convergences with other collectives, groups, and organizations in Mexico and abroad.
Sublevarte is a collective of creators with fifteen years collaborating in the production, diffusion, and generation of graphics, audiovisuals, and interventions of the public space. Its work addresses the need to really see what is happening around us. It invites the viewer to think outside the box, and to question the way we relate to each other, and to the world.
Sublevarte was born at Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (ENAP,UNAM), on 1999. Since then, they have been involved in cultural and artistic production supporting different social movements.
On 2012, Sublevarte Colectivo had an exhibition called La Persistencia de los Sueños / The Persistence of Dreams, at Interference Archive in Brooklyn, New York. In the same way, Sublevarte had a tour of talks at different cities: New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Providence. As a result of this visit, Sublevarte created the artist book Sublevarte Colectivo 2012- NY-MX, that is part of several important collections in the United States.
This is the first time Sublevarte Colectivo visits California as a group. It is a great opportunity to meet the creators, and see some of the work produced in Mexico City, one of the cultural capitals of the world.

Sol Collective and Sublevarte Colectivo invite you to the upcoming exhibition Sublevarte RIZOMA / RHIZOME (July 12 – August 2, 2014), at Sol Collective Arts and Cultural Center.
Sublevarte RIZOMA / RHIZOME is an exhibition by contemporary Mexican creators working together as Sublevarte Colectivo. The exhibition will feature works by Sublevarte, focusing on its collaborations with groups like Escuela de Culturas Populares Mártires del 68, Malla, HIJOS, and Rancho Electrónico.
Sublevarte Colectivo is a collective of graphic designers and visual artists based in Mexico City, and with members abroad. During 15 years, Sublevarte has created graphics, public art interventions, exhibitions, talks, skill sharing workshops, free media, and other cultural activities. Most of its work, aims to keep alive the hope for the construction of a better world.
Besides the exhibition, Sublevarte will present a talk on Tuesday, July 8th, at 6:00 pm, and a workshop on Saturday, July 12th, from noon to 3:00 pm, at Sol Collective. The opening reception for the show will be on Saturday, July 12th, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
