Melissa Shaw graduated from California State University of Sacramento in May of 2013 with a BA in Studio Art and a focus in the Electronic Arts. She is currently interning for an independent video game company based in Sacramento called Stigma Games doing character design and 2D animation. She started teaching herself how to draw digitally in 2010 when she got her first tablet, and since then she’s had a growing fascination with new media and the digital art world.
My work often deals with themes of duality and challenging perceptions about gender, sexuality, and what it means to be “normal.” I use animal and nature imagery to convey various human emotions, behaviors, and moods, and to hopefully present an interesting perspective on human nature.
